The power line running through the field suddenly sank, pressuring a woman in Quang Tri who was planting rice, killing the victim of an electric shock.
On November 12 and 5, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huu, Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Trieu Dai Commune, Trieu Phong District (Quang Tri) said that the authorities in Quang Tri are investigating and clarifying that a woman working in the field was suffering of sugar. The high voltage cable is in the upper body and death is fatal.

Consequently, around 7:30 on May 12, Ms. Do Thi N. (63 years old, living in Luong Tai Xa Village, Trieu Dai Commune) came to her field to plant rice. During work, the high-voltage line (which includes 3 metal cables) running through Ms. N’s field suddenly sank, pressing down on her. The incident caused Ms. N. to be electrocuted, she died instantly.
According to the chairman of the Popular Committee, Trieu Dai, on the scene, there were 2 electric poles pulling the line on a slope towards the field. After discovering the incident, people informed the authorities to intervene and energize Ms. N.’s body. At noon on the same day, Ms. N.’s body was handed over to the family by the authorities for them to take home to be cared for.
Speaking to the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. Phan Van Vinh, Director of Quang Tri Power Company, said that the line of the incident was the high-voltage line received and administered by the company. According to Mr. Vinh, inclined electric poles may be due to broken crossover cables, authorities are investigating specific causes.
After the incident, it is known that representatives of Quang Tri Power Company visited and provided initial support to the victim’s family.
