From noon 7-9, information from the border post at the Dung Quat port border said that forces are actively searching for the missing crew members after the tanker caught fire in the port of Dung Quat (economic zone of Dung Quat, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai).
Consequently, at around 6:30 am on the same day, the tanker Trung Thao 36 – BLC headed by Mr. Truong Van Kien (Hai Duong province), which was anchored in the waters of the Dung Quat port, burned suddenly and emitted many loud explosions. .
The fire of the ship broke out, 12 crew members jumped into the sea and were rescued by fishermen. After that, the border post sent a boat to take him ashore.
However, crew member Nguyen Thanh Ly (25 years old, Binh Tri Commune, Binh Son District) was missing. Functional forces and fishermen actively seek marine Ly.

After the fire occurred, the Dung Quat Port Border Control Station coordinated with the Quang Ngai Port Authority to mobilize specialized vehicles from Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company to maneuver to the fire fighting site. The fire was extinguished after 1 hour.
The Trung Thao 36-BLC ship is owned by Ho Chi Minh City-based Ha Thao Shipping Company Limited. On August 31, Trung Thao shipped from Da Nang port to Dung Quat port to receive oil under the contract.
