Molchanov was interrogated on September 18. Ms Saprunova is known to have told the police that he knew nothing about his lover’s criminal record when they began a relationship.
Ms. Saprunova traveled more than 2,575 kilometers to move in with Molchanov a month ago. However, reports show that the mother of two did not know that her lover was a murderer or sex offender and was detained for almost a decade.
Neighbors said the couple proved they were “madly in love” by holding hands, walking or cycling together. The nurse is currently under the care of a psychiatrist because she is so shocked that she cannot speak to her family.
