From June 2005 to March 2008, he was deputy director of the Department of HIV / AIDS Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health.
From March 2008 to November 2011, he was director of the Department of HIV / AIDS Prevention and Control.
From December 2011 to October 2018, he was a member of the Party Affairs Commission, Vice Minister of Health, in charge of Preventive Medicine.
On October 30, 2018, the Party Central Committee Secretariat decided to transfer and appoint Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long as Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department.
On January 31, 2020, in the context of the complicated COVID-19 epidemic in the world, it began to be recognized in Vietnam, with a reputation in the field of preventive medicine, it was mobilized by the Prime Minister. reelected as Vice Minister of Health as of January 31.
