Speaking before signing a 10-count anti-epidemic decree, President Biden warned that the number of Americans dying from COVID-19 could rise to more than half a million next month. “We are facing a national emergency, so drastic measures are needed,” argued Biden.
The new president vowed to restore the people’s trust and insisted that scientists would work “without political interference” under his administration.
The recently signed Biden decrees will further strengthen the anti-epidemic measures recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Testing and isolation
Consequently, all passengers 2 years of age or older entering the United States by air must have a negative COVID-19 test result before boarding. Immediately after arriving at US airports, these passengers will be immediately quarantined.
Currently, the CDC recommends a 7-day quarantine to enter the US After the Biden decree, it is unclear whether the quarantine will be increased or not.
Under another decree, federal agencies must review and reconsider tracking and additional testing for COVID-19 on immigrants.
Immigration bans for people who were recently in Brazil, the UK, Ireland and most of continental Europe were also reimposed just days after Donald Trump signed the lifting order.
Wear a mask on public transportation
Another decree from President Biden also requires mandatory masks in a variety of places and means of transportation such as airports, commercial airplanes, buses, ferries and other types of transportation from state to state.
According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s leading infectious disease expert, President Biden will activate the Defense Emergency Manufacturing Act to help pharmaceutical companies increase production of COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccine is likely to be modified to increase protection against new variants of the corona virus, Fauci said.
In a press conference on January 21 from the White House, Fauci urged Americans to believe in vaccines and get vaccinated quickly. The White House anti-epidemic team expert also promised to be completely transparent about the epidemic to regain public confidence.
According to Fauci’s estimates, the majority of Americans will be vaccinated before June this year. If 70 to 80 percent of Americans were vaccinated, Fauci believed the United States would be fine before the fall of 2021.
