How Youth reported, the ship Vietship 01 anchored in the port area of Cua Viet (H.Gio Linh) was washed away by the floodwaters into the sea, stranded in an area approximately 1 km from the coast. There are 12 crew on board.

On the morning of October 9, 2 crew members wore life jackets for swimming and both showed signs of exhaustion. At dusk on the same day, two more crew members were knocked off the Vietship 01 freighter by the waves, adrift towards the coast of the Trieu An commune (Trieu Phong). On the morning of October 10, a boat carrying 4 people crossed the waves to rescue also sank, of which 1 person was able to swim, 2 people were simply rescued as mentioned above.
