The protest against the results of the presidential elections on August 30 continued in Belarus with tens of thousands of participants, according to AFP. The protesters claimed that the election was fraudulent and demanded re-election.
Despite the presence of a dense security force, protesters gathered in large groups in the center of the capital, Minsk, shouting slogans calling on President Alexander Lukashenko to leave.

TASS quoted Belarusian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Olga Chemodanova as saying that 125 people were arrested during the protest.
Nikolay Latyshenok, an aide to President Lukashenko, said the elections were fair and called on the protesters to resolve the issue peacefully, according to RT.

However, President Lukashenko appeared outside his house with a bulletproof vest and a rifle in hand.
A week earlier, Mr. Lukashenko was also seen wearing a bulletproof vest and holding an AK rifle.
Meanwhile, local media published photos showing the tank convoy with at least 8 moving through the city.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone call with President Lukashenko to celebrate the Belarusian leader’s 66th birthday.
According to the Kremlin’s announcement, President Putin will receive President Lukashenko in Moscow in a few weeks.
