On the morning of December 26, the Thu Duc District Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City said it had just rescued the NMK boy (4 years old) who was attacked by green snakes while playing in the garden. Baby K. was taken to the hospital with a bruised foot, swelling from the extended instep to the knee.

Recognizing that it is a red-tailed green snake, doctors quickly wash the wound, prevent infection with antibiotics, vaccinate for tetanus, and infuse anti-green snake venom serum. At present, the baby has woken up, has good contact, the bite wound stops progressing, reduces swelling, and continues to infuse anti-poison serum, monitor.

A few days earlier, the hospital also gave relief to Ms Đ.TN (49 years old) who was attacked by a red-tailed snake while on her way to the garden to grow vegetables. The bite caused his feet to swell, burn, hurt, and subsequently bruise and swell.

According to Dr. Danh Xam Bach of the Thu Duc District Hospital Emergency Department in Vietnam, most of the two common families of poisonous snakes are the cobra family and the green snake family. Therefore, family members should not look for “perpetrators” to take to the hospital because it will take time to treat them and put the victims in danger. “People are safe because clinicians can rely on snake bite symptom clusters to identify which family of snakes and then come up with the most appropriate treatment direction,” Dr. Bach emphasized.
