According to HCDC, the first test of this case was conducted by Military Hospital 7A, the results showed a weak positive for the new strain of corona virus (SARS-CoV-2). HCDC sent the sample to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.

Earlier at noon the same day, speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, a source from the Binh Chanh District People’s Committee said that the district received information about the suspected COVID-19 infection on the morning of January 4. The district then identified and quarantined all of the suspect’s contacts. According to him, the number of people exposed to this alleged case is not great.

At Military Hospital 7A, where the suspected case of infection was examined and treated, Tuoi Tre Online recorded the activities of the medical examinations it keeps happening normally.

Persons visiting a medical examination must make a complete medical statement. People with a fever will be immediately quarantined.

According to the initial report, the suspected case is a man living in Tan Tuc City, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, bound for Sa Pa from December 24 to 27, 2020. From Sa Pa, he was to Hanoi by tourist car and from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City by plane on the afternoon of December 27.

On December 28, he had symptoms of a cough and fever, bought medicine near his home and drank. On December 29, he went to a clinic near his home and the doctor prescribed him to drink.

On the night of December 31, he entered the Emergency Service of Military Hospital 7A. Doctors suspect, perform screening tests, diagnose patients with suspected COVID-19 pneumonia, hypertension, heart failure, and transfer samples to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the 4-1 afternoon report from the Ministry of Health, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City analyzed 2 samples (1 sample was taken by 7A Military Hospital on January 3 and 1 on January 4), both samples are both negative.

The health sector also identified 37 cases of close contact with this man, between relatives, groups of tourists and medical personnel. Of which, there are 35 cases in Ho Chi Minh City, 2 cases in Ninh Binh and 1 in Hanoi (as tourist drivers).

Health authorities have sampled 36 cases (except for drivers in Hanoi who are approaching), currently awaiting results.
