Today Manchester City have officially successfully signed Portuguese midfielder Ruben Dias for up to € 68 million.
In this summer’s transfer window, manager Pep Guardiola brought in midfielder Nathan Ake from Bournemouth for € 45m. However, he is still not really satisfied with the defense. Evidence, in the weekend’s game, “Green” Man was ripped through the defense line by Leicester City and suffered a heavy defeat at 2-5.
For this reason, the Spaniard is determined to play big to receive another midfielder. In the end, they closed the book by hiring Portuguese midfielder Ruben Dias from the Benfica club.
It is known that to secure the signature of the 23-year-old midfielder, Man City has to spend 68 million euros (not to mention the almost 4 million euros extra). However, in fact, the “green” man lost 53 million euros in cash and was accompanied by midfielder Nicolás Otamendi, who is valued at 15 million euros.
However, that is not the end. Because, Man City has agreed to assume an additional 2/3 of Nicolás Otamendi’s salary with Benfica in a 3-year contract (equivalent to 4 million euros per year). They have to accept it because they want to end the Ruben Dias case as soon as possible.
Ruben Dias docked in Man City on a 6-year contract. That shows that Manchester City have a long-term plan with the young Portuguese midfielder.
Speaking on the day of Man City’s debut, Ruben Dias said: “Joining Man City is a great opportunity that I cannot turn down. Its success says it all. Manchester City have dominated English football over the years thanks to their attacking style. It suits my style.
I am very excited to be part of the team led by the best coach in the world like Pep Guardiola. He is very good at raising young players like me. I think I will improve and do everything I can to contribute to the club ”.
Ruben Dias is City’s third rookie in the summer transfer window after Ferran Torres and Nathan Ake. The talent of this player is very promising. Although he is only 23 years old, he has played 133 games for Benfica and 19 for Portugal.
