Experts assessed that the severe case of COVID-19 at Da Nang Lung Hospital was getting worse, so the patient’s progress should be closely monitored.
On January 19, 2021, at the request of Da Nang Lung Hospital, the COVID-19 Treatment Subcommittee held an online consultation with the Bach Mai Hospital, the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the Municipal Hospital for Tropical Diseases. .HCM, Da Nang Hospital, Da Nang Lung Hospital, Quang Nam Central General Hospital on serious illness from COVID-19 at Da Nang Lung Hospital.
At the consultation session at the Center for Operations Management, Diagnostic Support and Treatment of COVID-19 Patients were Master Nguyen Trong Khoa and Dr. Vuong Anh Duong – Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment (Ministry of Medicine practice). Professor Dr. Nguyen Gia Binh, head of the consultation group for severe COVID-19 patients, operates the bridge at Bach Mai Hospital.
At the consultation, Dr. Le Thanh Phuc, director of Da Nang Lung Hospital, reported the case that needed consultation.
This is a 79-year-old patient who returned to Vietnam from the US on January 13, 2021. This patient has a relative in the US with COVID-19; on January 14, 2021, a positive result of the RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2.
The patient with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and a thin body was transferred to Da Nang Lung Hospital for treatment the same day.
On January 17, the patient presented mild dyspnea, tiredness, loose stools, lack of appetite. On January 19, the patient had difficulty breathing, the X-ray showed blurred signs.
In the consultation, the experts assess that the patient shows signs of worsening, so Da Nang Lung Hospital must closely monitor the patient’s progress.
The professional council asked the hospital to evaluate all lung damage; consider pleural ultrasound; evaluate cardiovascular conditions; respiratory condition of the patient.
In particular, the hospital has strengthened the nutritional work of patients because the patient is thin, not letting the patient burn out. The professional council also has recommendations on the use of medications, indicators of respiratory function, stool tests and microbiological cultures to consider the general indicators of the patient.
Earlier on January 7, leading experts had a consultation with two severe COVID-19 cases that were being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases 2 and Quang Nam Central General Hospital.
Currently, Vietnam has registered a total of 1,539 cases of COVID-19; cured 1,402 COVID-19 patients and recorded 35 COVID-19-related deaths in the setting of severe illness. Vietnam has had almost 50 consecutive days with no case reports in the community.
