On the afternoon of 9-11, the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province had a meeting with the search and rescue forces at the Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric power station to discuss a plan to find 12 workers who are still missing after the landslide here.

Lt. Col. Phan Thang – the deputy commander and chief of staff of the Thua Thien Hue province military command – said the search has completed the two initial stages established and is paused for weather reasons. .

Phase 3 is expected to continue after November 15, when the weather is stable.

Consequently, the search force will build a dam of more than 10 m to rectify the Rao Trang river. The dam is expected to be built with an iron basket reclaimed from the site area, covered with a waterproof plastic layer on the outside.

The search force is also digging an artificial channel to conduct water flowing from the Rao Trang River to divert the search.

Currently, the search force is suspected below the Rào Trang riverbed near the landslide area, while the operator’s large concrete blocks are buried under the soil and rock.

After bending the river, this area is dry, the functional forces will use explosives to break the concrete blocks to find the missing person below.

If phase 3 ends but the missing persons have not been found, the search force will switch to phase 4, which consists of searching the area of the Rao Trang river bed from the landslide area to the downstream ( Tam Dan crossing) with a length of about 2.5 km.

There are spots in this area that are believed to have a high probability of finding a missing person due to a large stream of water that washed away rock and soil.

However, according to the ruling, to deploy the search for phase 4, you must wait until the climate stabilizes, that is, the heavy rains stop at the end of the year or the dry season. To implement this phase, it is necessary to close the outlet at the A Lin B2 hydroelectric plant and release the water bottom in the Rao Trang 4 hydroelectric reservoir.

Thang also asked the Thua Thien Hue province police to help divers dive under the Rao Trang River when the search for phase 4 was conducted.

According to Mr. Thang, in the case of completing the search in phase 4 but there are no more results yet, the search force proposed to announce the end of the search for missing persons at the Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric power station.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, vice chairman of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee, said the search forces will carry out a “roll” search, the stage of which upon completion of the stage will immediately move on to other search stages. details allowed.

“The first criterion remains the urgent search for the missing person and, at the same time, guarantee the absolute safety of the search force, not allow any more unfortunate situations to occur,” said Phuong.
