5 electric bus routes have routes from residential areas to major traffic hubs, ticket prices are expected to range from 3,000 to 7,000 VND each way.

The Department of Transportation has just asked the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to approve the policy of a pilot investor to implement 5 electric bus routes in the city within 12 months.

The 5 electric bus routes have routes from the Vinhome Grand Park residential area to major traffic hubs.

Is Ho Chi Minh City about to have 5 electric bus routes connecting major traffic hubs? - First

Currently, HCMC has 128 bus routes in operation

Specifically, route VB01 from this residential area to Emart Trade Center (27 km away), line VB02 to Tan Son Nhat airport (30 km away), VB03 to the Saigon bus station (distance 29 km) , VB04 to Mien Dong bus station (distance 8.5 km) and VB05 to the urban area of the National University (distance 10 km).

It is expected to have 77 vehicles in operation (each car is worth 6.5 billion), each car with a capacity of 65 to 70 seats. The car runs on electric power, it does not generate emissions, it limits noise, it is friendly to the environment.

The entrance fee (after the grant) for pupils and students is 3,000 VND / hour; clients of route VB01, VB02, VB03 are 7,000 VND / hour; VND 5,000 / hour for passengers on routes VB04, VB05.

The electric bus will stop at existing stops and waiting houses, in addition, the investor will add 9 new collection points, build a warehouse and a 12,200 square meter yard in the Vinhome Grand Park residential area (District 9).

The investor proposes a grant rate of 44% of operating costs. The City Department of Transportation believes that the above subsidy level is in accordance with current regulations. The 5-route roadmap mainly connects new residential areas with public places that do not have bus service, so it does not affect the operation of existing bus routes much.

Therefore, the Transportation Department proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to approve the policy of allowing investors to test the method of ordering utilities for the above 5 electric bus routes.

Currently, the set of cost and technical economics standards for electric buses is not available, so when the authorities complete this set of standards, they will carry out the tender for the regulated route once the term is over. pilot time.

In early 2017, Ho Chi Minh City allowed a 3-year pilot operation for 3 electric bus routes (12 seats), of which 1 route is in the city center and 2 routes in District 7.

Currently, HCMC has 128 bus routes in operation, of which 91 are subsidized and 37 are unsubsidized. Recently, the number of bus routes tended to decrease due to the revision and reorganization of the route network accordingly, reducing duplication and increasing coverage.
