On January 1, the Thua Thien Hue Province People’s Committee Office provided initial information on the water leakage from the A Luoi hydroelectric project tunnel (A Luoi district).

Consequently, at 8:40 am on the same day, the A Luoi Hydroelectric Plant was carrying electricity with a capacity of 20MW, there was a water leak from the tunnel on motor 177 on the front roof of the plant.

This incident caused water to run off and flooded the factory yard for about 30 cm, mud and rocks. The flow of water revealed at 177 is approximately 9 m3 / s.

Immediately after detecting the problem, the plant stopped the machine and cut off the power urgently. The plant also dispatched a crash team, treatment machinery to prevent water from flowing onto the floor and unit and to warn people and vehicles approaching the scene of the incident.

As for the cause of the accident, according to the A Luoi Hydroelectric Power Plant, due to the lack of conditions for the inspection of the tunnel, it has not been clearly identified. Troubleshooting time is expected to last approximately 1 month.

A Luoi hydroelectric power station has also asked the local authority to notify people not to go near the scene of the incident. In the immediate future, the plant will focus on dealing with the incident, when conditions for tunnel inspection allow it, related parties will offer solutions.

It is known that after the incident, the authorities moved 50 households with 148 people in Hong Ha Commune (A Luoi District), who lived 800 meters from the scene of the incident.

Currently, these households have returned home.
