On the morning of October 5, the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue Province held a flag-raising ceremony earlier in the month. All staff participating in the welcome flag wear ao dai. Women wear the traditional ao dai, while men also wear the blue five-bodied ao dai.

After a month since staff started wearing ao dai on the first Monday morning of the month, this time the department made many adjustments to staff attire.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, said that upon listening to the public, the department had removed the card that was used in front of the ao dai with the Chinese words “Deacon of Nguyen Phong” (Keeping the old order – Reporter ).

Previously, many opinions said that carrying this card in Chinese characters caused confusion and even misinterpreted the abuse of Chinese characters in the daily life of Vietnamese.

According to Mr. Hai, for now, he will temporarily stop bringing the old card to find the corresponding settings. Perhaps in the near future, the previous words “dean of Nguyen Phong” will be replaced by another pure Vietnamese word or even replaced by the name and position of the employee.

“The card making craft is also a very famous and excellent Hue craft in the past. So we also want to grow again with ao dai,” Hai said.

Mr. Hai also said the department will continue to listen to the opinions of experts and individuals on allowing employees to wear ao dai to work, regardless of whether it is conflicting opinions or consensus to make appropriate adjustments. in gradually allowing the traditional ao dai to become office attire every Monday of the month.

Mr. Le Huu Hai, a staff from the Thua Thien Hue Province Department of Culture and Sports office, said he was very supportive of the policy of wearing office dresses, especially men’s dresses. Hai said the department currently only requires ao dai to be worn on the first Monday of the month and only in the flag salute. At the end of the session you can change your normal clothes to work.

“For office workers like me, this is not a problem, they even take pride in wearing their father’s traditional long tube to work” – said Hai.
