Ho Chi Minh City blocks home of retired lieutenant colonel suspected of having COVID-19

The case of the alleged COVID-19 is that Mr. NV P (66 years old, living in Binh Chanh district) is a retired officer. It is known that Mr. P. went to Sa Pa from December 24, 2020 to December 27, 2020. During this trip, he moved from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi by plane, then he moved by car to Sa Pa (Lao Cai) in a group of 20.

After visiting Sa Pa, Mr. P. drove back to Hanoi in a group and flew from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. When he caught a flight to Tan Son Nhat, he moved home by car. After returning from traveling, on December 28, 2020, Mr. P. appeared with symptoms of a cough and fever and bought medication at a pharmacy near his home. On December 29, 2020, Mr. P. went to a clinic in Binh Chanh district and was prescribed to take medicine at home.

On December 31, 2020, Mr. P. entered the Emergency Department of the 7A Military Medical Hospital by car from Binh Chanh District. Here, doctors diagnosed him with hypertension, heart failure and pneumonia suspected of COVID-19. He is currently on the path of isolation.

Dr Le Quang Tri, director of 7A Military Medical Hospital, said the patient arrived at the emergency room on New Year’s Eve. Screening and testing of medical staff in the hospital for suspicious results of COVID-19 infection. Currently, the hospital has transferred the sample to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City and is awaiting the results.

According to the Binh Chanh District Health Center, the authorities temporarily blocked Mr. P.’s residence in the Binh Dien resettlement area and drew up a list of 28 close contact cases. The district health sector will continue to track close contact cases and will be ready to deal with test results confirming that Mr. P. is positive for SARS-CoV-2.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, so far, the city has registered 149 cases of COVID-19, of which 143 cases have been cured and 6 cases are in treatment. . There are currently 2,301 people in quarantine at central quarantine sites and 125 people in home isolation.
