At 9:10 pm on October 18, the Ha Tinh provincial hydrometeorology station issued a warning message about flash floods, landslides and flooding in the Ha Tinh area. According to forecasts for the next 6 hours, there will be heavy to very heavy rains in Ha Tinh, ranging between 100 and 200 mm.
The meteorological industry warned of the “high and very high” risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding in 14 districts, towns and cities of the province.
Also on the night of October 18, Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. announced an increase in discharge flow to Ke Go Lake starting at 23:00 tonight, with a discharge of 400m.3/ s at 500 m3/ s.
Some downstream residential areas such as Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Ha Tinh City were flooded, separated since the afternoon of October 18, and the water continued to rise. On social media, many people in the flooded area post calls for people to come and help them because the flood water has risen rapidly.
In order to quickly help people in areas flooded due to flooding, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces announced the phone numbers of the search and rescue force hotline.
In Quang Binh, due to prolonged heavy rains, on the afternoon of October 18, the floodwaters of the Kien Giang and Nhat Le rivers were higher than the historic floods. The water in the Gianh River has also exceeded an alarming 3. Tens of thousands of houses in Quang Binh were flooded.
