The total length of metro line 5 is 38 km with 21 stations built along the line, including 6 underground stations, 14 above-ground stations and 1 elevated station. On the route, there will be 2 deposit points in Son Dong commune, Hoai Duc district with 18ha wide and in Yen Binh commune, Thach That 7ha wide.
The city of Hanoi wants to invest in this railway line with the city budget and implement a pilot implementation in the form of PDP (in the form of a project implementation partner).
Previously, the city of Hanoi proposed Line 5 of the Van Cao – Hoa Lac subway to invest in the form of BT (land exchange for infrastructure).
In order to implement the project soon, the city of Hanoi proposed to the Prime Minister to establish a state evaluation council to evaluate the project’s pre-feasibility study report before submitting it to the National Assembly for approval of the project’s investment policy in the latest meeting. year 2020.
In addition, Hanoi proposed to the Prime Minister to assign the city to create an investment project to build a factory to assemble and manufacture wagons for the development of the urban rail system and direct the relevant ministries and branches to dynamically develop synchronous and political solutions of development to support industries, science and technology, human resources to support the development of the railway industry, step by step proactively and gradually reduce the dependence on foreign elements.
Subway line 5 will pass through 7 districts: Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai, Thach That. It is a standard double track electrified urban railway, which includes 6.5 km underground, 2 km overhead and 29.93 km on land.
The project started in the Van Cao area that intersects with Hoang Hoa Tham Street, passing underground under Van Cao, Lieu Giai, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Tran Duy Hung. After passing to the subway through Ring 3 station, the route gradually changes from subway to above ground at the middle position of the Thang Long Avenue median strip.
The end point of subway line 5 is Thach Binh Village, Yen Binh Commune, Quoc Oai District, Hanoi City.
Regarding the source of capital for the construction of metro No. 5, the city of Hanoi proposes to spend more than 65.4 billion VND of the budget for construction investment, of which the construction cost is approximately 24.8 billion VND. VND, the cost of the equipment is 16.6 billion VND.

The project will be invested by the city budget, including public investment capital, and savings for the 2021-2025 period are expected to be around VND 15 billion; the source of capitalization and divestment of state-owned enterprises was VND 18-20 billion; the estimated bond issue capital is 10,000 trillion dong; The rest will be borrowed from national and foreign financial institutions.
