Down Detector’s website that specializes in finding bugs confirms that all sites, including Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Meets, and Calendar, have problems. Users have also reported difficulties using Facebook.
Some netizens took to Twitter to find out the reason for the incident, but the cause is still unknown.
The company has yet to issue an announcement regarding the disruption of platforms.
Billions of users are expected to be affected by the shutdown of Google services. Some users reported receiving a 503 error when they tried to log into a Gmail account. Similarly, when opening YouTube, users will see a screen with the message “Something went wrong” and an image of a monkey holding a key.
Regarding Gmail, Downdetector said that more than 68% of users have problems logging in, while 22% of users cannot open Gmail.com. Using the Google search engine, Downdetector identified that approximately 87% of users had trouble opening google.com, while 12% of users had trouble finding information.
At 7:42 p.m. on the same day, some applications such as YouTube, Gmail returned to normal. However, Google has not officially announced the cause of the problem that prevented users from accessing these applications.
