On December 8, the Vinh Thuan District Police Department CSDT (Kien Giang) said that it prosecuted the case, prosecuted the defendants and arrested Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quan (42 years old), a former teacher of the Vinh Phong High School. 2, Vinh Phong Commune, to investigate sexual relations with persons from the age of 13 to those under 16 years of age.
According to the case file, around November 2016, Tran Thi T. was a ninth grade student at Vinh Phong 2 High School. T. was a good student in mathematics and physics, and was taught by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quan. School members who tutor these 2 subjects.
After a period of contact, feelings arose between T. and Mr. Quan, from which the two often used excuses to teach and learn more to secretly go out and have sex many times at the motel. At this time, T. is under 16 years old.
On November 19, 2020, T. went to the motel to rent a room and then made an appointment to meet Mr. Quan to present gifts on Teacher’s Day in Vietnam. T. reminded Mr. Quan of the promise that he would divorce his wife to marry him, but it was rejected.
Thinking he was adulterated, T. took sleeping pills already bought from the motel bathroom and drank to commit suicide. Fortunately, at that point someone from the motel discovered and quickly brought T. to the emergency room, so she escaped death.
After that, his family repeatedly tried to ask the reason why T. only spoke sadly at school, particularly Professor Quan sad. School administrators and leaders from the Vinh Thuan District Education Department also came in to verify the incident. At first, Mr. Quan admitted that he went to the motel with T., but the purpose was “to deny love because T. is a student, when he was young he should not have love.”
However, T.’s family doubted that the incident was not as simple as the previous one, so they kept asking questions for many days before T. told all about his relationship with his teacher. After that, T’s family filed a complaint with the police.
At the investigative agency, Mr. Quan initially admitted all his wrongdoing. Currently, the Vinh Thuan District Police are consolidating the case to handle it in accordance with the law.
