Two other defendants close to Mr. Chung were also indicted on the same charges, including: Nguyen Anh Ngoc, 46, who works in the editorial secretariat, the aid team of the Hanoi People’s Committee; Nguyen Hoang Trung, 37, a driver for Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, is also an expert in the newsroom and secretariat of the Hanoi People’s Committee Office. These two people were prosecuted under paragraph 1; imprisonment from 2 to 7 years.
The indictment showed that Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung had a mastermind role in stealing documents to investigate the Japanese crime. This is a criminal smuggling case; infringe accounting regulations, causing serious consequences; Money laundering and non-compliance with bidding rules have serious consequences.
According to the indictment, in order to capture the information and documents of the investigation, Mr. Chung turned to an acquaintance to connect with the investigating officer who was in charge of the Nhat Cuong case at the time, Mr. Pham Quang Dung. .
On June 16, 2019, Mr. Chung raised the issue and Dung agreed to provide information and documents on the progress of the investigation of the Nhat Cuong Company case.
From July 2019 to 6/2020, implementing Mr. Chung’s proposal, Dung seized 9 confidential documents 5 times. Of these, Dung passed Mr. Chung twice with 6 documents considered confidential. Document delivery to Mr. Chung is done in three ways: by phone call through the Viber software application; download the captured image file directly and through others for this documentation.
Defendants Trung and Ngoc Anh were charged with once participating in the printing and editing of 3 confidential documents for Mr. Chung. The investigation also determined that Mr. Chung and his wife, Nguyen Thi Truc Chi Hoa, are individuals with related rights and obligations in the case.
This is only one of the three cases that the Ministry of Public Security is investigating regarding Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung.
In addition, the cases of “Contraband”, “Violation of accounting regulations cause serious consequences”, “Money laundering”, “Violation of the bidding rules that cause serious consequences” occurred at the Company. Nhat Cuong Trading and Technical Services Company Limited (Nhat Cuong Company), Hanoi Planning and Investment Department and various related units.

First, on August 11, the Communist Party Politburo suspended the activities of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, and suspended the post of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee to Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung. Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee to verify and investigate.
