On September 18, she received the complaint from Ms HTY (who lives in Hung Yen) about Pham Van Cung’s fraudulent appropriation of around 18 billion VND. Through the investigation, the Vinh Long Provincial Security and Investigation Department determined that Ms. Y’s complaint was correct. Furthermore, during the investigation, the police also received many complaints from people who were tricked by Cung into usurping around 50 billion VND.
Regarding the incident, on December 25, 2018, the Vinh Long Province Vietnam Buddhist Church Board decided to suspend the Buddhist activities of Venerable Thich Phuoc Ngoc. On 18.11.2019, the Board of Trustees of the Buddhist Church of Vietnam in Vinh Long Province decided to remove Venerable Thich Phuoc Ngoc from his post as Abbot of Phuoc Quang Pagoda. Then on August 17, 2020, the Vinh Long Province Vietnamese Buddhist Church Board made the decision to allow Venerable Thich Phuoc Ngoc to take a break from religious activities, revoke the ordination message and the certificate. of monks and nuns.
To serve the investigation, the Vinh Long Provincial Police suggested that victims who were misled by the former abbot of Phuoc Quang pagoda should immediately contact Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Phuc, the permanent deputy director of the Investigative Security Agency.
