According to the Office of the Central Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Natural Disasters, at the end of October 8, the central provinces had 4 dead, 7 missing, and 37 communes and districts flooded, prompting the evacuation of 3,250 homes.

Cam Lo, Huong Hoa, Dakrong, Quang Tri City … were also flooded on a large scale. Some locations in the communes of Ba Long, Pa Nang, A Vao (Dakrong district) … were isolated from the outside. Quang Tri Province evacuated 2,796 households with 10,141 people to safe areas.

In which 2 deaths were LTMH’s grandson (3 years old, living in Cau Ha Village, Hai Phong Commune, Hai Lang Commune, slipped into the O Lau River) and Mr. Le Hai Anh (61 years, Van Hoa village, Trieu Hoa commune; washing with water). They both found the body.

H. Huong Hoa has 4 people missing in the heavy floods, including Pham Van Nam (35 years old), Le Quang Hung (28 years old, living in Huong Tan commune; missing in Rao Quan Lake); Le Ba Chuong (CuTaKa village, Huong Loc commune) and Ho Van Khoi (Cu Dong village, Tuc commune). The other two missing cases were crew members of a vessel that dredged the sunken channels in Buoy 0, Cua Viet port (H.Gio Linh), whose identity has not been determined. Mr. Phan Phung Hai, Director of the Quang Tri Port Authority, said that this unit is coordinating with the provincial authorities to organize the search for these two crew members.

According to the report of the Central Committee for Compensation and Rescue in Quang Binh Province, 3,166 houses were flooded in Minh Hoa, Quang Ninh, Le Thuy and Tuyen Hoa districts. Ms. Ho Thi Cuc in Ba Looc Village (Dan Hoa Commune, H. Minh Hoa District) was electrocuted, causing injuries from falling from a power pole.

Not long after that, when power was restored, Mr. Loi was electrocuted to death. In particular, on the morning of October 8, 7 cows from Mr. Poloong Mo’s home (Dading village, Gari commune, Tay Giang province) were killed by lightning, causing severe damage.

In Quang Ngai, on the afternoon of 8.10, CPO-TKCN H.Ba To said that the body of Mr. Pham Van Neo (66 years old) was found in Nuoc Lay village, Ba Ngac commune, Ba To district , washed away by the water. On the night of October 7, Mr. Neo and his wife, Pham Thi Tam, crossed the Nuoc Lay stream to go home, but due to heavy rains, the strong water washed them both away. Ms. Tam then swam to shore and Mr. Neo was swept away.

On the night of October 8, the People’s Committee of the Central Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province said that one person was missing and 4 people were injured by the floods (all 5 people resided in Phong Dien district). In which, 1 young man disappeared while hunting birds, on the afternoon of 8.10, he was not found; The remaining 4 people were bitten by a snake, 3 people slipped and fell while working in response to floods and rains. Across the province more than 1,100 houses were flooded and collapsed, mainly in H.Phong Dien.

Tens of thousands of students miss school

On the afternoon of October 8, Mr. Tran Dinh Hung, Head of the Department of Education and Training, Huong Khe (Ha Tinh), said that in order to ensure safety in the rainy and flood conditions, this unit just announced to nearly 23,000 students from 55 schools. Zone preschools, elementary, and high schools may drop out of school today (9.10) until further notice.

According to Hung, due to prolonged heavy rains with the Ho Ho hydroelectric power station discharging floods, since the afternoon of 8.10 a series of roads in communes in the area such as Huong Do, Huong Thuy, Huong Giang, Ha Linh, Hoa Hai, Dien My … were partially divided. Therefore, the Huong Khe Department of Education and Training decided to leave schools to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

On October 8, Da Nang Department of Education and Training sent an express dispatch to the District Education and Training Office; schools and centers directly dependent on the Department; Private colleges and universities for students to be absent from school (October 8 and 9) to be safe from complicated weather events. Students from all over Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue province can also leave school from October 8 until further notice.
