On 10-10, from Dien Sanh City (Hai Lang District, Quang Tri), we searched the villages of Hai Phong, Hai Dinh, Hai Truong, Hai Chanh … downstream of the O Lau River, where the Navel flood in Quang Tri.
In the area here, most of the houses are heavily flooded. The small villages were located in the middle of the water field as “oasis” in the middle of the navel area of the Quang Tri flood. Many villages flooded this year exceeded the 1999 flood peak by more than 0.5 m.
Due to the isolated characteristics between the fields, the villages of Hai Phong, Hai Chanh and Hai Truong communes are surrounded by flood water, deeply flooded near the ceiling, completely isolated, only accessible by motor boats and canoes. Although it rained less today, the floodwater level remained very high. Most of the houses are flooded 1.2 to 2 m deep, half flooded, with the state near the eaves.
Furniture, property, rice and crops were deeply submerged in the water and animals were washed away. Sometimes we see people in boats moving back and forth between houses. Many families choose to stay upstairs to avoid flooding.
Mr. Le Duc Thinh, chairman of the Hai Lang District People’s Committee, said that the villages in the area downstream of the O Lau River, such as Cau Nhi, Dong Truong, Hoi Dien, An Tho, Cay Da … are the district navel floods and this year is heavily flooded. Best. Almost all of the households in this area suffered severe floods, property, rice and crops were severely damaged.
