After Bamboo Airways’ capital increase to VND 10.5 billion, FLC said its ownership decreased from 51.29% to 39.4%.

This information appears in the FLC Group’s 2020 consolidated audit report, on events that occurred after the accounting period. FLC said the group’s ownership in Tre Viet Aviation Joint Stock Company declined after the airline increased its capital on February 5.

Bamboo Airways was established in May 2017 with a charter capital of 700 billion VND and gradually increased its charter capital to 1.3 billion VND, 2.2 billion VND, 4.050 billion VND and 7 billion VND in April 2020.

At the 2020 annual meeting, the representative of FLC said that the shareholding structure of this airline is FLC (which owns approximately 52.7% of the total shares of 7 billion VND as of mid-2020), Mr. Trinh Van Decision and several other shareholders.

In particular, according to the National Registry of Secured Transactions, Mr. Trinh Van Quyet and Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Diep (Mr. Quyet’s wife) used more than 200 million shares of Bamboo Airways to guarantee loans at OCB and NCB. At the time, FLC leaders also stated that “there was no plan to sell Bamboo Airways shares to any domestic partners.”

Earlier this year, Bamboo Airways completed its fifth charter capital increase, the largest capital increase for the airline. All VND 10.5 trillion was contributed in VND and private equity, but the new shareholder structure was not disclosed. This number placed Bamboo Airways in the group with the largest charter capital, only about 3.6 billion VND less than Vietnam Airlines and almost double that of Vietjet Air.

In 2020, Bamboo Airways said it made a pre-tax profit of 400 billion dong, among the few airlines in the world to make a profit in the 2020 pandemic year. This interest increased 34% compared to 2019.
