Local teachers and administrators also cited the reasons for the “call” of first grade programs.

Vietnamese is more difficult

Talk to PV Youth, Teachers (professors) have the same perception that new first grade textbooks have advantages compared to old books. The book is presented, the design is more beautiful, the image channel of the channel is more eye-catching and diversified, more colorful, and the design of many activities appropriate to age psychology …, so the students (students ) are very excited. . Most teachers believe that in general the level required at the end of the program is not higher than the previous program, but the progress of the new first grade Vietnamese language program is faster, higher requirements are a reality . can be denied.
Ms. Nguyen Quynh Nga, a teacher at the Marie Curie School (Hanoi), analyzed: With the Vietnamese subject, the overload in the first place in time, the time to learn Vietnamese is long, which continuously generates an overload for the students . Under the new program, students learn 12 periods in Vietnamese per week, 4 times more than math, with only 20 periods left for the remaining educational subjects and activities. In the previous program, there were 10 Vietnamese language periods, 4 mathematics periods, and today there are 12 Vietnamese language periods and 3 mathematics periods per week.

The requirement is also higher than the previous program. Week 2 – 3, the students had to read long sentences, followed by writing on the board, they also had to write a lot of sounds, a lot of rhymes, a lot of words. The second week has started to have a spelling aspect of writing.

In the part of exercises, from week 2, there are multiple choice exercises, if the students cannot read, it will be very difficult because they will have to read for a long time to mark their answers. The writing pad that accompanies textbooks is long and difficult. Students who have just learned the letters must connect to form words and words. Many students do not know the height and width of the letters and they have to write the connecting lines so it is difficult for them and the teachers are struggling too. According to the previous program, until the end of the fourth week, I will learn the voiced part, now until the fifth week, it is almost out of the voiced part and I will move on to the rhyming part. With the age-old mindset of first graders, a day with lots of sounds and rhymes is also overloaded, not to say that knowledge is difficult or easy.

This year, when I receive first grade, I feel more exhausted than I have ever been. First grade teachers have to shape the learning style of our children, we have to teach them on time and feel a little pressure.

Miss Pham Phuong Chi, Ngoc Khanh Primary School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi)

Ms. Pham Phuong Chi, head of class 1A5 of Ngoc Khanh Primary School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi), also said that the new language, words are reasonable and suitable for students. However, the reading part is too much for you. Capitalizing letters in the first lesson and introducing 3-word examples in 1 reading makes students easily confused.

Students are not well prepared due to Covid-19 translation

Most teachers shared that the translation of Covid-19 has affected students’ readiness to enter first grade this year.

Ms. Pham Phuong Chi shared, “This year, as I accept first grade, I find it more difficult than every year. Due to the influence of the Covid-19 translation, in recent times at the preschool level, children have not been trained much and are not familiar with the alphabet. This year, the children also cannot go to school to get acquainted with the first grade class before the start of school. As 1st grade teachers, we have to forge the learning style of our children, we have to teach them on time and feel a certain pressure ”.

Ms. Nguyen Quynh Nga also said, “If you follow the design of a new first grade program, you must recognize the kindergarten alphabet. Meanwhile, due to the translation of Covid-19, 5-year-old preschoolers cannot go to school in enough time like last year, making it difficult to study in first grade this year.

The deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Pham Xuan Tien, also said that the Covid-19 translation that caused students to enter the first grade when they had not yet fully learned the 5-year preschool program was a cause of the previous deficiencies. (Follow)

“You can’t rush teaching first grade students”

The head of the Department of Primary Education, the Ministry of Education and Training, said that the design of the first grade program lasting up to 12 periods per week in Vietnamese is intended to help students to “read and write fluently what as fast as possible “so you can learn other subjects. However, some primary education experts think it is necessary to take into account the ability to “bear the load” and the psychology of the 1st grade age. The knowledge standards in the program have a certain path. “So you can’t be in a rush to teach first graders,” said a leader in charge of elementary schools locally.

Tuyet Mai

Reading practice is very difficult with large class sizes.

Commenting on this year’s first grade program, Ms. Bui Thi Tuyet Trinh, a teacher at ICS Elementary School (District 2, Ho Chi Minh City), said that she herself did not face too much pressure with this book, but still so he admitted. if you follow the program

Especially with the new program, students can learn to read very early. With the old program, when they learned most of the reading part, the students moved on to the reading part, but now even in the rhyming part, they had the reading part with quite long passages. For classes with few students, 30-35 students, teachers can practice reading well for students, while for grades 40-50, it is very difficult. “The amount of vocabulary is very large, each of you stands to read it for a long time, if the class is crowded, not all children can get up to read or be edited by the teacher in the classroom,” said Trinh .
