A fire broke out in a restaurant on Tran Hung Dao Street, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, the police raised a ladder to rescue a trapped male employee, on January 1 afternoon.
At 10:30 am, many staff members working in the 4-story building, a specialty buffet restaurant in Dalat, L’angfarm, suddenly saw smoke and fire coming from the waiter.
They used a mini fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but they failed. Flames erupted violently on the upper floors. Nearly two dozen employees and guests fled.
“I was working downstairs when I saw people running, dark smoke,” the male restaurant staff said.
More than 60 fire police officers and 7 fire trucks came to the rescue. About 500 m from Tran Hung Dao Street were blocked for fire fighting.
The firefighter raised a ladder to rescue an employee who was trapped in an upstairs bedroom. Another group climbed the ladder, pulling a tornado to put out the fire on the floors. More than an hour after the fire was under control.
The fire did not cause casualties, but partially collapsed the roof of the restaurant, many of the properties caught fire. The cause is under investigation.
