The fire occurred around 8:30 am the same day, the area was in front of and about 300 meters from the Lao Bao (Quang Tri) international border gate.
This is where the Lao authorities control traffic from Laos and Thailand.
According to initial information, personnel at the sword site were inspecting the rock truck with a suspected cannon underneath, while the inspection suddenly exploded.

Next to the inspection yard, there is a warehouse for materials that contains oil and other goods that were also burned by the fire.
After receiving information, fire trucks from the Quang Tri Police and the Quang Tri Border Force were present and approached the scene to coordinate the extinguishing of the fire.

The blast is known to have left two people dead (currently unidentified), six injured. Among the injured were four Vietnamese, who have now been taken to Hue Central Hospital as an emergency.
