After accepting her job as a housekeeper at the famous Melbourne Club, her boss Vicenzo Leonardi regularly took her home. Another woman named Milagros Dark, who worked in the same place as Evans, was murdered in 1990, three years after Evans disappeared. Mrs. Dark was also close to Leonardi and he took her home after work.
Later, Mr. Heimel discovered that a third woman associated with the Melbourne Club, named Anna Maria Pontarollo, also disappeared without a trace in 1954. Ms. Pontarollo lived with Mr. Leonardi in Melbourne and there were 2 children.
Later, his wife moved from Italy, so he lived with two women under one roof. When Ms. Pontarollo disappeared, Mr. Leonardi immediately told Ms. Pontarollo’s two children that his wife was the baby’s biological mother.
In 1995, he went to court hearings on Evans’ disappearance, but did not present evidence and invoked his rights to avoid self-incrimination. Heimel continues to unravel the clues for answers and justice after Leonardi’s death in 2009.
