After being approved by the National Assembly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong became the first governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.
On the morning of November 12, in Session 10, the members of the National Assembly secretly voted to appoint 3 new members of the Government. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong received 467 votes for consent (representing 97.08% of the total number of delegates). Subsequently, the XIV National Assembly approved a Resolution to ratify three members of the Government.
With the approval of the appointment, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong became the first governor in the history of the State Bank, replacing Mr. Le Minh Hung, who was appointed Head of the Party Central Office.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong was born on March 27, 1968 in Cau Giay district, Hanoi city, she has a master’s degree in Development Economics; High-level political theory.
The new Governor of the State Bank, Nguyen Thi Hong, has been involved in the banking industry for many years. From 1991 to 1993, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong worked as a Specialist in the Foreign Exchange Management Department of the State Bank of Vietnam. From November 1993 to April 1995, she worked as an expert in the Monetary Policy Department of the State Bank of Vietnam.
From April 1995 to April 2008, she was deputy director and head of the Monetary Policy Department.
From April 2008 to July 2011, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong was Deputy Director of the Monetary Policy Department.
From August 2011 to January 2012 she was Deputy Director in charge of the Monetary Policy Department.
From January 2012 to August 2014 she was Director of the Monetary Policy Department.
From August 2014 to August 2020, she was a member of the Party Affairs Committee, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.
From August 2020 to November 2020, she was a member of the Party Affairs Committee, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Bank Agency.
