After 4 years of validity, as of January 10, 2021, the regulation that cars with less than 9 seats must be equipped with fire extinguishers will be repealed.
On November 27, the representative of the Fire, Rescue and Rescue Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security said that the above content is reflected in Decree 136/2020.
Regulations requiring that cars with 4 seats or more be equipped with fire extinguishers issued by the Government in 2014. The Ministry of Public Security then provides detailed instructions, specifying that vehicles with 4 seats or more must be equipped with a powder of less of 4 kg, a foam bottle of less than 5 liters or a water tank with an extinguishing additive of less than 5 liters, and a CO2 tank of less than 4 kg.
The purpose of this regulation is to help people to realize and equip themselves to avoid great losses in case of fire and explosion.
Now, Decree 136/2020 does not require that a 4 to 9 seat car must be equipped with a fire extinguisher; However, vehicles with more than 9 seats must be equipped with fire extinguishers and means of extinguishing fires in accordance with the nature and characteristics of operation.
Four years ago, when regulations for cars with 4 seats or more to be equipped with fire extinguishers went into effect, a number of mini fire extinguishers in the car exploded due to the Vietnam weather. Also, many car manufacturers do not design a fire fighting place, which makes it difficult for the driver.
In early 2016, the Fire and Rescue Police Department coordinated with the Traffic Police Department to choose the route of the Phap Van – Cau Gie (Hanoi) highway as a car stop to remember and guide the regulations on site . have a fire extinguisher; Most vehicles are checked for non-compliance with this regulation.
At the time, the leader of the Fire and Rescue Police Department said that “cars without fire extinguishers were not registered and fined up to 500,000 VND.” This content caused a lot of controversy. The Ministry of Public Security then ordered the Traffic Police not to stop the vehicle to check the extinguisher.
