According to the contents of the case, at around 1:00 p.m. on February 27, 2019, the My Quy Tay Border Guard Station (Duc Hue District, Long An Province) was discovered in the trunk of a motorcycle driven by Nguyen Thanh Ngoc from Cambodia to Vietnam. The bag contained 3,966 synthetic drug tablets weighing more than 1.5 kg, 997.32 grams of Katamin and almost 2 kg of methamphetamine.

Through the investigation, Ngoc declared the drug on the subject Duong Ngoc Nhu Huynh (33 years old, resident of Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City) who hired Ngoc to transport from Huynh’s store in Svay Rieng, Cambodia to the district of Duc Hue, province. Long An delivered Le Hoang Vu (41, who lives in Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City) for VND 5 million. However, when she reached the border gate of My Quy Tay, Ngoc was arrested.

In total, Ngoc has participated in the illegal transport of rented drugs to Duong Ngoc Nhu Huynh from Cambodia to Vietnam 19 times, from November 2018 to the time of his arrest, illegally earning 182 million VND.

The amount of illicit earnings, Ngoc stated to reimburse and personal expenses.

On July 10, 2020, the People’s Court of Long An Province declared the death of the defendant Nguyen Thanh Ngoc accused of illegally transporting narcotics.

The defendant Ngoc agrees with the entire crime but appeals to alleviate the sentence.

The Panel found that the first instance ruling of the Long An Province People’s Court tried the right person for the right offense. The defendant Ngoc transported drugs in large quantities many times, making it necessary to handle them strictly.

For this reason, the High Level People’s Court rejected the appeal and the death penalty of the accused Ngoc.
