The UK is faced with a new strain of virus that is equally capable of spreading the newly discovered mutation last week.
UK Health Minister Matt Hancock said the UK just had 2 patients infected with the new nCoV virus, called 501.V2.
“This new variant is of great interest because it has a higher risk of infection and appears to have a larger mutation than the newly discovered variant in the UK,” Hancock said.

Both patients are related to those who have been to South Africa in recent weeks. Subjects exposed to 2 cases were isolated. He also immediately imposed a travel restriction on South Africa.
As of December 24, people who have been or are in transit in South Africa in the last 10 days will not be able to enter the UK. Direct flights are also prohibited.
British and Irish citizens, visa holders and permanent residents can enter, but must self-quarantine for 10 days at home.
Furthermore, those who have been in contact with someone in South Africa for the past two weeks are also in quarantine.
Health authorities believe that the 501.V2 variant is prevalent among young people. This strain of the virus appears to have a higher viral load, which carries the risk of spreading easily from person to person.
Consequently, the South African virus strain may be the cause of the record number of hospitalizations for Covid-19 in the African country.
Dr Susan Hopkins, British Public Health, said that the new variant recently discovered in the UK and the variant found in South Africa are very different mutations.
“Both seem more contagious. We are still working on the South African variant. We are fairly confident that the available system will help control the spread,” added Dr Hopkins.
The ministers were “very grateful to the South African government for the rigor of the science and the openness and transparency of the discovery of a new variant here,” Hancock said.
In vaccines, Dr. Hopkins said, the Pfizer vaccine induces a strong immune response against many variants of the virus. He also confirmed that there is currently no evidence that the vaccine is ineffective.

NCoV virus mutations in the UK appeared in other countries
The World Health Organization (WHO) is working closely with UK officials on the emergence of the new strain of the nCoV virus.
The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Health agreed to implement a Bluezone application throughout the country to help prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic. This application helps to warn users if they have accidentally been in contact with people infected with Covid-19.
To receive alerts from Bluezone, the first thing you need to do is download and install this application.

Once installed, users must give the Bluezone app permission to access storage and the Bluetooth connection to receive alerts from the app.
