The 2020 college benchmarks rise is predictable. Immediately after the test scores, some colleges expected the benchmark to increase from 2 to 5 points. However, when the official results were announced, they still surprised parents and candidates.
At the end of the high school graduation exam in 2020, many candidates and teachers have imagined and predicted that this year’s benchmark will likely be higher than last year’s due to the “easy breathing” test.
This is further strengthened after the results of the second high school graduation examination in 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the determination of the threshold to ensure the quality of inputs for a number of specific training branches. In the group of teacher training industries, the input quality assurance threshold has increased by 0.5 points compared to 2019. In the health training industry that has a practice certificate, the threshold is also determined to guarantee the quality of the inputs. set at a level 1 point higher than in 2019. The Ministry of Education and Training also said that basically this year the “floor score” is higher than last year.
However, the actual score when announced by various schools should surprise many candidates by the increase, especially in the fields of Economics, Engineering – Technology, Medicine – Pharmacy.

Overall, the industry benchmarks in all economics schools increased. The reason may be that in this block, this year, the selection methods other than the high school graduation exam scores account for a large proportion.
The evidence for upper secondary school is the University of Commerce, this year the industry benchmarks range from 24 to over 26. While last year, the benchmark level was between 22 and 24, and there was only one . an industry has a benchmark of 24. Therefore, most industries have increased, even many branches increased by almost 3 points. Interestingly, the industry with the highest standard scores from Commerce University in 2019 is only equal to the industry with the lowest standard score in 2020.
This year, the marketing industry has the highest standard of Commerce University with 26.7 points; followed by Logistics and Supply Chain Management with 26.5 points.
With these points, if in the university entrance exam last year, the candidates can be admitted in full to the University of Foreign Trade or the National University of Economics.
For 2019, the industry group with the highest standard score from the University of Foreign Trade on the Hanoi campus is International Business and International Business Administration with 26.25; The Economics and Business Administration group at base 2 in Ho Chi Minh City also only reached 26.4 points.
Meanwhile, the two branches with the highest standard scores from the National University of Economics in 2019, International Economics and International Business, are only at 26.15.
If we consider the benchmark of the University of Foreign Trade, this year the benchmark of the economics and international economy group is the highest up to 28 points, 1.8 points above the benchmark of last year.
Other sectors such as Law; Finance – Banking, Accounting, … the benchmark level also increased by almost 2 points.
If the statistics of the University of Foreign Trade’s own benchmarks in the last 5 years, this year’s score is also among the highest and approximate to 2017, the year in which it is considered that it passed a national exam high school with “10” rain spot.
Hanoi University of Technology is similar when the benchmark for many disciplines increases by 2-3 points.
Benchmark of Computer Science in the IT industry is the subject with the highest standard score this year with 29.04 points. Last year, the industry also had the highest benchmarks in the school, but the benchmark was only 27.42.
Right after computer engineering, data science and artificial intelligence also raised the benchmark when this year it was 28.65; while last year they were 26.85 and 27 points respectively.
The benchmark index of the Hanoi Medical University sectors in 2020 also increased from 2.15 to 3.35 points, the strongest increase was in the medical branch of the Thanh Hoa branch (3.35 points) and medical laboratory engineering (3, 3 points).

Parents and candidates were shocked
A professor specializing in exam preparation in Hanoi said that since the night of October 4, just after many of the major universities announced their benchmarks, he himself received dozens of phone calls from parents and candidates, but most it is to seek advice on the grounds of “losing all aspirations”. Even with children up to 27.5 years old they also “fell horse”, they all failed.
In fact, with the current way of examining aspirations according to the current style of “spill of water”, admission to a subject / school by a candidate with a high score or simply “going to university” is not too difficult. if the candidate records more than the endorsement aspirations for the lowest score he has.
But partly perhaps because the high score (compared to last year) causes candidates and parents to fall into a subjective state, a “virtual” tranquility.
The Đ.TN candidate in Thai Binh has a total score of 24 D-block combinations, but also “distorted face” because he failed all wishes.
This candidate enrolled in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda and several other schools with a benchmark of about 22 in 2019, but this year “falls back” because when public schools the father has 26 points.
Another contestant shared: “I set 5 aspirations and got almost 25 points, but failed all 5. I don’t think this year’s score has increased that much.”
As for the reason for the strong increase in the benchmark compared to last year, in addition to the objective factor that is the test score, the increase in school enrollment by many methods is also part of the reason to drive benchmarks according to the test scoring method. shooting up.
Because when the number of quotas has been gradually filled by other methods, the number for the method of using the high school graduation test scores will definitely be reduced.
