Village artist Ly Huynh, one of the great trees of Vietnamese cinema, passed away on the morning of October 22 after a period of dealing with illness, with a life expectancy of 78 years. His departure leaves a great loss for Vietnamese cinema. In recent days, many artists have visited and offered condolences to the family of actors Ly Hung, Ly Huong, two sons of People’s Artist Ly Huynh, who succeeded their father.

Tien brought the remains of folk artist Ly Huynh to burial in Phuc An Vien Cemetery (District 9, HCMC)

Folk artist Ly Huynh was born in 1942 in Vinh Long, whose real name is Ly Kim Tuyen. He is multi-talented and linked to the set in many roles: actor, director, martial arts director, producer, contributing to many impressive cinematographic works.

During his career, he has participated in a total of more than 50 films. Village artist Ly Huynh’s first role after 1975 was Colonel Hoang in the film. Tweezers of the late director – Meritorious Artist Khuong Me and the film won the Silver Lotus Award at the 4th Vietnam Film Festival in 1977. At the World Youth – Student Festival in Pyongyang in 1978, the film Tweezers he also received the Certificate of Merit from the DPRK Academy of Arts. That was the first turning point, the door opened for Ly Huynh to continue on the path of revolutionary cinema in the following years. With great contributions to the country’s cinema, in 1993 Ly Huynh received the title of NSU from the State and in 2012 he obtained the title of People’s Artist.

The Ly Huynh People’s Council Ceremony took place at 10:00 am this morning on October 24 and the cemetery was interred at Phuc An Vien Cemetery (District 9, HCMC).
