Reuters on December 20 reported that Taiwan had sent air defense and defense forces at sea to monitor, after mainland China’s Shandong aircraft carrier passed through the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan’s defense agency said the Shandong ship accompanied four other warships, after leaving Dalian port on December 17.

After passing through the Taiwan Strait, the carrier group on the carrier continued south. Taiwan has sent six warships and eight anti-aircraft aircraft to monitor and track the movements of the ships on the mainland.

According to the Taiwan Defense Agency, with the support of the people, the armed forces have the confidence and ability to defend this territory, ensure security, and protect peace and stability in the region.

Previously, the US Navy announced that the guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin had passed through the Taiwan Strait in normal operation on December 19.

“The relocation of the USS Mustin to the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the United States’ commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific,” according to the US Navy announcement.

This is the twelfth voyage of ships of the United States Navy across the Taiwan Straits this year. In a statement, the Chinese military said its air and naval forces had “followed and watched” the destroyer USS Mustin.
