Previously, according to the content of the report, based on the results of expert research and field surveys in the field on October 31, the Central Institute of Water Resources Sciences – Central Altiplano assessed the disaster area . The combination of many disadvantages in the steep terrain, strongly dissected, forming a narrow V-shaped stream, with a slope of 30-45 degrees, 2 side walls of the stream with a loose soil structure, lying on the base. the original stone should cause slippage.

Also, in the period from October 6 to 22, the rain lasted, the ground was completely saturated, and when it met a heavy rain from October 27 to 28 (Typhoon No. 9) with almost 180 mm, the ground was like a mass of liquid mud. The landslide precipitated downward creating a flash flood that dumped dirt and rocks, trees blocked sewer drains leading to the stream of mud and rock that had become the right bank and was sinking into the residential area, wiping out everything in its path creating a landslide disaster.

Also, it is difficult to forecast flash floods and landslides and can only warn and identify areas at risk of landslides. However, it is impossible to accurately predict what will happen.

In parallel with pointing out the initial cause that led to the Tra Leng landslide disaster, the Central Vietnam Institute of Irrigation Sciences – Central Highlands also suggests some immediate and long-term solutions.

According to the leaders of the Quang Nam Province People’s Committee, this is the opinion, the initial results of the Central Institute of Irrigation Sciences – Central Highlands, after going to the field, surveyed in Tra Leng commune on October 31. After November 15, the Provincial People’s Committee will continue to invite various experts from different fields to Quang Nam to assess the entire landslide case and find solutions to prevent landslides in this area. Especially choosing a place to build a village for people to suffer a landslide.

Before that, on the afternoon of October 28, on the roof of Village 1 (Tra Leng commune), a terrible landslide occurred, causing the burial of 15 houses, 22 missing persons. So far, authorities have found 9 bodies of the victim and are actively searching for the remaining 13 people.
