On September 22, the police of the Hoc Mon district (Ho Chi Minh City) arrested Mr. DVT (44 years old, living in Dong Nai province) to investigate the illegal transport of animals on the precious species list and in danger of extinction. Rare is protected.
According to initial information, on the morning of September 17, the economic police team of the Hoc Mon District Police in coordination with the Dong Thanh Commune Police was patrolling Le Van Khuong Street, when it discovered that DVT was driving a motorcycle with a foam box. Look inside, there is a net bag containing a snake of about 20 kg that is suspected to be a king cobra.
The task force took Mr. T. and the evidence to the police station for clarification.
Initially at the police station, Mr. T. stated on September 14, someone called to buy a king cobra of about 20 kg for 1.4 million VND / kg. Mr. T. agreed and called a man named N. in Cambodia to order a 20 kg snake for 1 million VND / kg.

On September 15, Mr. T. arrived at the Mien Dong bus station to meet the Cambodian license plate and received a container of solid foam.
Then Mr. T. gave 20 million VND to the garage and transferred it to N. and then took the snakes home to Bien Hoa City to store in the bathroom. Then, Mr. T. made an appointment with the buyer on the morning of September 17 to deliver the goods to the Dua Bridge area, Dong Thanh Commune, Hoc Mon District.
On the morning of September 17, Mr. T. brought snakes to the meeting point at Le Van Khuong Street, Hamlet 5, Dong Thanh Commune, when the police caught him.
Initially designated by the authorities, the previous snake was the king cobra (also known as the king cobra), which weighed around 20 kg, being a male snake, over 4 m.
King Cobra belongs to group IB on the list of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals (Decree No. 06/2019 / ND-CP). Currently, the snake is being rescued and cared for at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden.
The Hoc Mon District Police are temporarily detaining Mr. T., consolidating the case handling records in accordance with regulations.
