On 3-4, the Lao Cai province police said they were holding a criminal detainee Chao Ong Khé (28 years old, resident of Sa Pa city) to clarify the murder and robbery behavior.
According to the police, Khé was just released from prison in October 2020 and then began working as a contracted rock driller in Sa Pa city and Bat Xat district.
Due to his passion for gambling and video games, Khé was heavily in debt and intended to steal property.
At around 9:45 am from 2-4, Khé broke into the home of Ms. VTC (65, Lang Moi Village, Muong Vi Commune, Bat Xat District) to steal. When the owner discovered him, Khé feared that he would be accused of conduct, so he beat Ms. C. and took a wooden stick to hit the back of the neck.
Seeing the victim immobile, Khé carried the body hidden in a tank of water in the kitchen of Ms. C.’s family. After that, Khé went to the house to pry the closet for more than 13 million of VND and then escaped from the scene.
At noon on the same day, relatives come home from work to discover the incident and report it to the police. Determining that this is a serious property theft murder case, the police allowed the force to search and block the gateways in case the suspect escaped abroad.
At 10:00 p.m. the same day, Khé was arrested while hiding in the city of Sa Pa.
