HanoiWorkers discovered a 350 kg bomb while digging the foundations of the headquarters of Electric Transmission Company 1 on Cua Bac Street, Ba Dinh District, on the night of November 28.
The pump is 35 cm in diameter, more than 100 cm long, 2 m deep under the foundation of the Headquarters of Power Transmission Company 1, No. 15 Cua Bac Street, Truc Bach Phuong.
The excavator had dug and lifted the intact pump from the ground, and then workers lowered the pump to its original position.
Truc Bach district police use movable steel fences to block the ends of Cua Bac street with a length of 100m to prohibit vehicles, pedestrians can still pass. At 9 pm, officials from the Capital Command arrived to inspect and find a plan to relocate the pumps.
Some houses near the construction site were closed, shops about 30 meters from the site were still open with light, but there were no people inside or outside.
Mr. Ta Nam Chien, chairman of the Ba Dinh District People’s Committee, said that the Defense Ministry has not ordered the relocation of homes adjacent to the construction site where the bombs were found.
In early June, Hanoi discovered a 1.6-meter-long bomb under the Red River, passing through the Long Bien district. After 4 days, the Capital Command sent 15 officers and soldiers to rescue them safely.
During the American war, especially from December 18 to 30, Hanoi received 36,000 tons of bombs.
