Nguyen An Tuyen, chairman of the Cua Nam Neighborhood People’s Committee, said the blast killed three people in one house, including a security guard and two employees.
“We don’t know the cause of the explosion, the suspected initial information was due to the gas tanks,” Tuyen said.
The Hoan Kiem District Police mobilized two specialized vehicles and several soldiers to the scene to take the victims to the emergency room, removing 15 internal gas tanks.
The explosion house was located next to a convenient supermarket and the Cua Nam market, in front of it was a stop waiting for the signal lights. The front door and window behind the first and second floors of the house were thrown onto the street due to the pressure of the explosion; The wall of the house in lane 29 Nguyen Thai Hoc (located behind the scene of the explosion) was broken.
Tran Van Ty, a witness, said he was waiting for a motorcycle taxi on the opposite street when he heard three loud explosions in a row. “After the bang boom, many people who panic run away,” he said.
Authorities are blocking the scene, clarifying the cause of the explosion.
