In 1965, he began to open a martial arts school, began to train many good martial artists. From 1972 to 1989, he played many films, becoming one of the first Vietnamese to successfully bring martial arts to the cinema.

Since 1976, Ly Huynh has acted in many Vietnamese films. As a famous martial artist, he was one of the first Vietnamese to successfully bring martial arts to Vietnamese cinema. In 1973, he also became famous when he publicly challenged Bruce Lee on television.
