The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has released a video of the country’s armed forces destroying Armenian military equipment. The incident occurred in the context of the two armies in conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh area.

The video showed the tanks and several other Armenian military vehicles destroyed in the airstrike. Large plumes of smoke were seen rising from the attack site.

Since September 27, Azerbaijan and Armenia, two countries of the former Soviet Union, entered into conflict when both sides accused each other of provocative actions in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The armed conflict in recent days has left dozens dead and hundreds injured.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said its army destroyed the Armenian S-300 missile defense system in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 29. The Azerbaijani side also claimed that 2,700 Armenian soldiers were killed and injured in recent clashes.

Armenia accused a Turkish plane from Azerbaijani airspace shot down the Armenian Su-25 fighter jet, killing the pilot. However, both Turkey and Azerbaijan rejected the accusation.

Nagorno-Karabakh is an area recognized by the international community under Azerbaijan. However, this area has the majority of the population of Armenian descent, so they wanted to separate to join Armenia. The region has the military and financial backing of Armenia. The sovereignty dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh between the two former Soviet states has been going on for many years, but has not come to an end so far and conflicts often occur in this area.
