The Construction Project Management Board of the City of Bac Ninh invests an investment project in the construction of an intersection southwest of the city of Bac Ninh. The project was approved to implement phase 1 (rounding of the intersection, improvement of the Kim Doi canal and relocation of the 35 KV power line) starting in October 2016 and complete the additional investment (phase 2: main tunnel and secondary routes from Hanoi – Bac Giang highway to tunnel, from tunnel to NH18) as of April 2018 with a total investment of more than 416 billion VND.
After more than 40 months of construction, the project to build a crossing in the southwestern city of Bac Ninh with technical vehicles, ready to be put into use, has been opened, helping to improve the capacity of the transport infrastructure; create favorable conditions for the connection in the area between the Hanoi – Bac Giang highway, highway 18 and the urban area southwest of the city.
Speaking with the reporter, Mr. Quan Anh Tuan, chief consultant overseeing the National Highway 18 intersection project, said that currently, the construction unit has completed the construction of the T2 tunnel (located within Highway 18) and It is under construction for the waterproofing of tunnels, building the road surface in superposition with the National Highway 18 of the remaining branches, together with the installation of tunnel pumping equipment, transformer stations, lighting systems in the tunnel and branches , road safety system … The project has completed approximately 75% of the workload.

The construction ground for some elements of the project also overlaps with Highway 18, the traffic density is very large, so it is necessary to organize the additional construction of public service roads to drive the traffic flow.
Currently, the construction unit is concentrating labor, building branches that run from Highway 18 to Hanoi Bac Giang Highway and downtown Bac Ninh. It is expected that in 2020 it will be completed and put into operation.
The T1 overpass of branch 05 which passes over branch 06 to reach the Hanoi – Bac Giang highway overpass has also been basically completed.
Upon completion, the project will synchronously connect the infrastructure architecture planning between the central area of the city of Bac Ninh and the new urban area of the city of Lim separated by the National Highway 18. Completed construction of the intersection connecting with Highway 18, Noi Bai – Ha Long Highway, connecting Hanoi – Bac Giang Highway, ensuring traffic when entering the highway, as well as from the highway outward and the city center in Bac Ninh city, reduce the traffic congestion.
