Sri Lankan nationals staying in a hotel in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, were found to have Covid-19 upon returning home.
On the afternoon of September 21, the Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting on epidemic prevention in the city.
At the meeting, the representative of District 7 reported on a Sri Lankan citizen temporarily residing in District 7, after leaving Ho Chi Minh City and returning home, he discovered Covid-19.
Before leaving town on September 12, the above case was tested for nCoV and found negative results. But when he arrived in Sri Lanka, this person was tested again and it came back positive.
After receiving the information on September 18, the District 7 medical unit disinfected the entire hotel. Through a review, there were 15 people involved, who were tested for negative nCoV. In which, 1 person who has close contact must be isolated, the remaining 14 people are isolated on level 2 at home.
Mr. Le Thanh Liem, permanent vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said that the city had detected no cases of Covid-19 in the community for 52 days, showing that the situation was effectively under control.
However, the entire city is not negligent and subjective, but must focus on achieving the double objective well, fighting epidemic security and developing the economy.
Liem also said that the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee signed a written approval for 8 hotels to be isolated accommodation for immigrants. Relevant agencies are evaluating another 18 hotels as quarantine points.
