On March 29, Mr. Nguyen Van Liet (59 years old, living in Phuoc Hoa An Village, Cu Lao Dung City) held the funeral of his wife, Ms. Tran Thi Tuyen. The family’s obituary noted that Ms. Tuyen passed away on March 27.

Mr. Liet’s family said that Ms. Tuyen died in Hong Ngu City (Dong Thap), then the body was taken home for funerals.
Suspecting that Ms. Tuyen’s body was transported from the epidemic area (bordering Cambodia), the Cu Lao Dung district police coordinated with the district’s Covid-19 prevention and control team to spray disinfectant on the place of the funeral.
At the same time, the authorities also check the coffin in accordance with epidemic prevention regulations. Upon opening the lid, the authorities discovered that there was no body of Mrs. Tuyen in the coffin, but only many lily branches and 3 sandbags.

The Cu Lao Dung District Police Agency CSDT coordinates with professional units to examine the site and confiscate relevant items and documents.

He asked his children and grandchildren to buy a coffin and take it to the family for the funeral. According to local authorities, Ms Tuyen owes many people and is likely to claim her, so this woman faked death to avoid debts.
