More than 90 people were killed in protests across Myanmar today (March 27), while a US embassy facility in Yangon city was shot.
Despite warnings of bloodshed from state media, protests have raged on the streets of Yangon, Mandalay and many other cities, large and small in Myanmar, from the coup until now.
The Myanmar Now news site said at least 91 protesters were killed on March 27. Of them, at least 29 people, including a 13-year-old girl, died in Mandalay. While at least 24 people died during the protests in Yangon.

Today’s protests take place in the context of a massive parade by the Myanmar military government in the capital, Nay Pyi Daw. In another development, the Karen National Alliance (KNU), one of more than 20 minority insurgent groups in Myanmar, said it had successfully held a Myanmar army post near the Thai border. The force said 10 Burmese soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel, and a KNU gunman were killed. A Myanmar military spokesman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
