Today (3/15) The World Health Organization (WHO) said that the advisory council is reviewing the reports on the Covid-19 vaccine from the firm AstraZeneca.
Currently, several countries in Europe and Asia have discontinued AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine to investigate thromboembolic events.
However, when reviewing AstraZeneca’s reports, the WHO found no evidence that vaccines caused the health problem.
WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier responded Reuters: “As soon as the findings and any possible changes to the current recommendations are fully understood, WHO will notify the public.”
“As of today, there is no evidence that the problems were caused by vaccines. It is important that immunization campaigns continue so that we can save lives and prevent serious cases of serious illness caused by the virus, ”added Lindmeier.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health also has initial information on this topic. The Department said the Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) has reviewed all cases of thromboembolic events and other conditions associated with thrombosis reported after Covid-19 vaccination. AstraZeneca.
The number of cases of thromboembolism in vaccinated humans was not higher than that reported in the general population. Specifically, as of March 10, there have been 30 cases of thromboembolic events among nearly 5 million people who received the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in the European Common Economic Area (EBA).
The PRAC maintains that the benefits of the vaccines outweigh the risks and that the vaccines can continue to be used while the Agency investigates thromboembolic events.
Previously, studies around the world showed that the most common side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine was mild to moderate and improved within a few days of vaccination.
The evaluation of thromboembolic events with the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine is underway with an emergency deadline, when some “abnormal signs” of safety are detected. This is an adverse event that has not been fully recorded, so further evaluation is necessary to conclude.
From March 8 until now, Vietnam has vaccinated 11,605 people from AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 in 12 provinces.
