On March 11, the AFC officially announced the postponement of the AFC Champions League group stage matches in East Asia.
Consequently, all the tables in this region, instead of taking place from April 21 to May 7, as originally planned, will return at the end of June and the beginning of July.
The reason AFC made the above decision is because many East Asian countries implement strict regulations on quarantine and immigration.
If the East Asia region has to postpone the matches, in the West Asia region, the group stage will continue as planned.
The fact that the group stage of the AFC Champions League in East Asia will delay the shooting of the ball is very good news for coach Park Hang-seo and his students.
Viettel will represent Vietnam to participate in this arena. If according to the above schedule, the army led by coach Truong Viet Hoang will face a very tight schedule.
Meanwhile, Viettel owns many domestic players like Trong Hoang, Ngoc Hai, Tien Dung, Hoang Duc …
This raised concerns that the aforementioned group of players would be exhausted before joining Vietnam for the final three matches of the 2022 World Cup second round in Asia.
However, with the latest move, Coach Park can rest assured that students are on Viettel’s payroll.
Viettel’s failure to kick the AFC Champions League in April may also help the Vietnamese team have more time to join the military.
In Group G, the second qualifying round of the Asia World Cup 2022, Vietnam leads with 11 points.
Behind respectively Malaysia 9 points, Thailand 9 points and the United Arab Emirates 6 points. Indonesia is the only team that has yet to score points.
As scheduled, the Vietnam team met with Indonesia on June 7, Malaysia on June 11, and the United Arab Emirates on June 15, respectively.
Just by getting 4-6 more points, Vietnam will have a chance to win tickets to the 2022 World Cup third qualifying round.
