Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Hatami warned that Tehran would lay waste to Israel’s two largest cities, Tel Aviv and Haifa, if the Jewish government tries to attack the country.
In his March 7 speech, Hatami emphasized that Iran currently possesses all the necessary means to protect the country and the stability of the regime. The official added that Tehran also has “soft power” resources to ensure the country’s security.

According to Sputnik, the Iranian Defense Minister’s warning was in response to statements by his Israeli counterpart Benny Gantz in a recent interview with the Fox news agency.
Gantz revealed that Israel is updating its plans for a possible attack on its neighboring Muslim nation’s nuclear infrastructure. According to Israel’s defense minister, Tel Aviv is ready to unilaterally implement the plan without the approval of its allies if it sees signs of escalating nuclear activity in Iran.
Israel has repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing a plan to build nuclear weapons, even as Tehran agreed to limit its nuclear program under the international Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreement signed with major powers. In 2015, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that intelligence obtained by his country implied that Tehran did not actually restrict nuclear activities nor did it intend to abandon plans to make original weapons.
Iran flatly denied the allegations and, at the same time, rebuked Israel that it was promoting a similar nuclear program from Tehran, but the international community “turned a blind eye.” Furthermore, unlike Iran, Israel has not acceded to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and repeatedly refuses to confirm whether or not it possesses nuclear arsenals.
